Builders Without Borders of Texas, Inc., is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization that is dedicated to helping others help themselves by assisting with food, housing, education, and medical services to disadvantaged people locally and around the world.
What does it cost to take a team to Mexico?
The cost is $250 per person for a five-day trip. This includes lodging at Manos Juntas in Rio Bravo, breakfast, and lunch. You will purchase your dinner at a local restaurant (average $10 per meal). This cost does not include transportation. Additional costs for materials may be required, depending up what your team will be doing.

How do we travel to Mexico?
From Houston, we usually drive. It is approximately a seven- to eight-hour drive to the border. Rio Bravo is about 15 minutes across the border from Brownsville. Some team members may be asked to volunteer to drive their vehicles, depending upon your team size. There are airports in Harlingen and McAllen, Texas, just about an hour from Mexico. If your team chooses to fly, our team leader will meet you at the airport. Teams are responsible for their own flight arrangements and cost.

What will your team do?
-Volunteers may assist on an eye clinic team. Space is limited on eye surgery trips.
-If you have doctors or dentists who wish to serve in that capacity, we can help you set up a
 clinic for your team.
-Construction (current needs and cost can be discussed at the time that your trip is planned)
-Food and hygiene product distribution in the barrios and refugee camps along the border.

Although our high school and sewing school continue to operate and our team house is still in place, for the safety of our volunteers, we are currently not taking teams to Carbonera. The team house is utilized periodically by churches and other groups as a conference and retreat center. All of our teams to Mexico will be in the areas of Reynosa and Rio Bravo.
